Set 2 Vintage Moriyama Made In Japan Blue Willow Plates 1940s Transferware
Made in Japan
Moriyama Ware was created in Mori Town, Shuchi District, Shizuoka Prefecture, following principles of the School of Shitoro Ware.
We feel the "story" being told depicts Japanese soldiers protecting their land and water from occupiers.
These are lovely plates and the pattern has been replicated many times.
We like how the blue paint is splattered on the plate, and how the pattern does not match up perfectly. (We enjoy the imperfections on vintage items).
There is crazing on these plates; they are vintage, so wear is evident. Chip on one plate (see final photo).
